A 24-year-old pregnant woman has been diagnosed with Zika virus - a mosquito-borne disease, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said on Thursday (July 8). Samples of 13 people suspected to be infected with the Zika virus have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune.
"This is the first time Zika virus has been reported in Kerala ... a 24-year-old pregnant woman was reported to the hospital in the capital's region with the flu, headache, and outbreak last month. "19, 13 of which indicate that Zika is infected. Now all samples have been sent to NIV Pune," he said.
How do people get infected?
